Client: Department of Health

Brief Description: This assignment aims to conduct the Phase 2 of the NSOH across various life stages among the WHO- defined index age groups, with a focus in NCR and Mindanao, to obtain information on the current national oral health status. Specifically, it aims to:

1. To conduct data collection activities in NCR and Mindanao;

2. To analyze both Phase 1 and Phase 2 data by index group, gender, urban-rural residence, and targeted region;

3. To determine the prevalence of common oral diseases and conditions (e.g., dental caries, periodontal diseases, and soft tissues/abnormal growth in the oral cavity) across life stages within the WHO- specified index age groups (5, 12, 15-19, 35-44, and 65-74 years old Filipinos), including sex, and urban-rural residence;

4. To determine relationships among behaviors (such as tooth brushing habits, dental health-seeking
behaviors), environmental factors (such as dental services), and related risk factors (such as smoking
and eating habits) with dental caries and periodontal diseases; and

5. To compare Philippine estimates with other international counterparts, specifically located in the
Western Pacific Region (WPR).
